Sediment filtration
is probably the most basic of all water treatment processes, removing the fine
sandy particles sometimes found in municipal water supplies, especially after
repair work to the pipeline. For private water
supplies, from streams or brooks, sediment filters remove leaves, twigs, and
dirt particles. In well supplies, sandy or dirt particles.
Sediment filter elements can now filter down to fractions of a micron however,
the most common sizes are from 1 to 20 microns. Anything less than this fouls
very quickly and requires constant maintenance. Elements are produced in a variety of materials. The one shown to
the right is of spun polypropylene and filters to one micron.
The Sediment Filter Kit consists of a
high quality filter housing complete with mounting bracket and spanner. A
Sediment cartridge. A 15mm water pipe piercing mount, a drinking water
faucet and flexible tubing.
